Homebody takes readers along for the author’s journey of finding their identity as a trans non-binary person. Told in a graphic format, Theo talks about their life and the events that led up to discovering their identity — from growing up in a family with relaxed gender roles, to the restricting sexist policies of school unifroms, to the freeness of college. The novel has beautiful illustrations with shades of pink and purple tones. The varied paneling and distinct linework bring everything together. Coming out can be a long and hard journey, and this book details the good and the bad along the way, as well aa the beautiful outcomes of becoming your authentic self, “that living in a world that takes every opportinity… to squeeze you uncomfortably in a box of someone else’s design…that is the most radical act of self love.”
