Hey everyone, Happy May! I haven’t written much lately due to grad school, and I have also found it harder to write since the election. Today, I just wanted to write a quick update about what to expext from my blog – for both readers and to hold myself accountable.

Book Reviews

This year, I am excited to be participating on two ALA committees. I am enjoying the committees so far, but because of my participation, I’m unable to share book reviews of graphic novels this year. (I’ve also archived a few reviews for now) Which is hard, as I’ve read at least 70 so far this year!

Next year, I hope to share some reviews of all the lovely graphic novels I’ve read! (Unless I am on another committee that prohibits this) Until then, I am planning to share more picture book and novel reviews. Stay tuned for more!

Graduate School

I have just started my third semester (out of seven) for my dual-degree program in Library Science and Youth Literature! I am really enjoying my program so far. I’ve learned a lot, and I’ve had some great experiences!

This summer, I’m taking two courses. The first I’ve already started, and it is all about comics, manga, and graphic novels! I’ll be reading at least six books a week, but the reading list is awesome! I’m really excited to branch out into more genres of graphic novels, as well as learn more about graphics in the scope of libraries and publishing.

Later in the summer, I’ll be taking a required course on user learning and information needs. So I’ll be excited to start that in about 7 weeks!

ALA Annual 2025

I’ll be attending my first ALA Annual this year! I won’t write about this today, but if anyone else has suggestions on what to check out while I’m there, I’m all ears!

Italy & BCBF 2025

In the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing about the amazing experience I had this spring in Bologna, Italy! I attended the annual Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and I also explored Bologna and Florence. I’m excited to share some great knowledge I learned at the fair, as well as talk about my experience as a whole.
